RE:New Forum's Appearance Reply

The only thing I can say against it is that my real name shows up instead of the screen name(nickname). Same on the ArtsCow forum.

And I tried changing it in the control panel

Its good to finally see the forum back. But I wish someone would have told me it was back. I only discovered it when I had a problem with my VIP store and tried clicking on the forum link again. It was off for such a long time and then suddenly re-appeared without any notice. I hope they don't suddenly remove it again. Its a great source of help from other users when AN and AC staff don't respond.

    Regards,

    Hi Nadia,

Yes. It showed up without notice but the problem we all have is, no one knows who everyone else is. When the forum went down, without notice for 4 months, no one knew how to contact other members.

There is another forum but the problem is, all new members who joined AN after this forum shutdown had no idea about a forum. When AN closed this forum for maintenance, ALL SVIP forums also shut down.

As this forum does not have a members list, we didn't know who we had here. There is no other database listing members so we could all keep in contact.

Yes thats right. I was actually told off by some members of the AC forum not to post questions or problems about the AC site and VIP stores on the AN forum. It was very frustrating because AC staff don't reply to many messages and I was left hanging for so long with issues that I couldn't resolve. Some of them I have since worked around, but it was very annoying when I couldn't talk to other members who may have experienced similar issues.

I have direct messaged you now Fred, so feel free to keep in contact with me off the forum anytime. I'm happy to advise assistance to you and others where possible and would love the same in return from any other lovely members. :-)

    Hi Nadia,

Yes. I saw the post that was made at the AC forum. The impression I got from a few of those members was "this is my forum and we don't want any AN stuff here". Just the impression I got.

I would ask that you just keep posting away here as I have found out since I first joined here that there ARE quite afew members here who DO read the posts and they do learn from them. Some may be a bit timid to ask. Some may be a bit embarrased to ask but like I always say, everyone of us, when we started with AN, knew nothing. Didn't understand how to build a store, set prices, sections, etc...

Fortunataly for me, when I created the 'How To' manual, I learned a lot and don't mind sharing what little I know with anyone who wants it.

I think if any AC member made a request or post here that they certainly would not run into any negative responses.

The good thing about this forum is, we got each other helping each other.

Yes, alot of the stores stuff is a learn as you go experience. The forums definately help those that get stuck because so many other members are around to assist and give feedback on their experience learning the same processes.

What is the link to your 'How To' manuals? I'd love to take a closer look and see what else I may learn from watching them.

Now I remember why I wasn't able to access them before. It comes up asking me for a username & password to access the page.

Are these hidden behind a secure folder?

Thanks Fred. Got it now. I'll have to try and put together some more advanced design tutorials on how I completely re-customised my store when I get some free time.

By the way AN team, I'm finding it annoying that the forum notifications your getting don't have proper links in them back to the forum pages. If you include 'http://' before the 'forum.artsnow.com...' part then it would be a clickable link in received email. Is anyone else having this problem.
