How many on here are using vector graphics? Reply

Just curious how many are using vector graphics and utilizing some of the sites that allow commercial work on some freebies under creative commons

Now that I have been working with vectors and clean crispness of the image, I find it harder to be satisfied with raster images I work on in photoshop or corel painter

Ok before someone replies negative I am assuming everyone reads the terms of use has many of them are not for commercial but many of them are.

Well Fred I guess just me and you use them, the reason I was also asking is because I working on some new clock faces and when done it will be in layers in Ai or PSD and all you do is place your image behind them and was checking to see if anyone else may be intersted. With layers you just click on the visual for the one you want to use.

This will also be for round watches and then I plan on doing some for the other shapes has well

    Hi Lennie,

Tube is referred to a Paint Shop Pro file, which is basically a png with transparency, the difference is these files are saved in layers for each element. A photoshop version is a PSD file, and with Paint Shop is labeled has PSP, or TUB file. Most common use are tags for social sites like MySpace,Facebook. Now artists that design with Daz3D/Poser create renders and save it in any of the formats mentioned above. Most of them are reasonable size for smaller products and depending on where you get the tubes, some of the renders are large enough for tshirts. These tubes are saved at 300DPI, so print quality is excellent. See sample below of one of my deisgns

The fairies is this design are tubes rendered in Poser, and many sites have these for purchase, membership really low in price for the amount of graphics you can get.

Alot of people take photos of celebrities and cut them, removing the background, the goal for this art type is make it seem flawless and can be placed in any background, scene for a look that it was always there. ALhough most of these are saved at 72dpi, since its only geared for the web, but I have a method with Corel Painter that brings them up to 300dpi, simply by using the underpainting feature. Hope this helps

    Gary

Thank you. I had purchased a subscription to a graphic site. They offer tubes, png and jpeg. I am familiar with the png and jpeg. But, wasn't sure about the tubes. I have some posers too. I wasn't aware that was a name other than what the designer had given it. The png files that I am using are very large. And I love the ease of layering.

I don't really use Vector, but only because I suck in Illustrator. Photoshop is my BFF! lol.

Question, when you wrote "how many are using vector graphics and utilizing some of the sites that allow commercial work on some freebies under creative commons"

Would you mind sharing the sites you use that allow commercial work on some freebies??
    If not, I understand.

Great designs by the way (I checked out your sites). Very impressive work, do you ever sell/license any of it?
    Take care!

hi all boy it seems like Ive been MIA lately and apologize for the late reply

@bianca, thanks I appreciate the comment, if you still want to know where to get some of the vector graphics, which by the photoshop can open vectors too. I have some of the links on my website but read each artists terms of use not all are for commercial and another great place is deviantArt under stocks and resources, there are many that contribute for commercial use.

Do I ever sell my designs, I do have something in development and will keep you posted.

Aside from the late response I have been really looking into ways to increase my sales and working on the Ranch Marketplace which is a website I created for helping out other Bonanza sellers and just recently expanded and opened it to all small sellers no matter where you sell, its just another link for customers to find you, its less than a year old and working on it to bring in traffic.

But as always I come back to the forums and see what is going on, I am hoping there are more members in here now. It was kind of a ghost town last time I checked
